hi, i work out about 5 times a week. After everytime I run (as I am sweating alot), I take a shower in which I wash my hair with shampoo. THis leads me to wash my hair 5-7 times a week with shampoo. My hair is VERY VERY dry and has some dandruff, it was also curly. So I straightened it out with a hair straightener. Now, everytime I work out, I take a bath with shampoo and my hair curls out again, and then I straighten it. I've heard that this cycle of working out, washing with shampoo, straightening, working out...etc will eventually have mass damage on my hair and make them even more dry. So, if I work out and then wash my sweaty head with just water for 2-3 days, will it be hygenic?
Working out leads to unhealthy hair?
It is actually hygienic to never use shampoo as long as you thoroughly wash with clean water. Your hair naturally produces an amount of oil that it needs. Washing with shampoo strips the oil from your hair, forcing it to produce more. If you don't use shampoo, after about two weeks, your hair will find a natural balance and will not produce excess oil.
