How do I blowdry my hair straight?

I always use a hair straightener to get my thick, curly hair straight. When I do, it leaves it flat, limp, and dull. When I went to the hairdresser she blowdryed my hair straight and it looked wonderful! It was soft and straight but there was still volume! How do you blowdry your hair, what is a good blowdryer, and is there anything else I need? Thanks!

That always seems to be the case with my hair as well. I notice that the stylist uses a round brush, pulls the hair taut, then holds a blowdryer (with an attachment to concentrate the airflow) close to the brush as she pulls the hair away from the scalp.

To create that volume, she pulls the hair upwards at the crown of the head.

You can try to duplicate this with the same motions and tools, but the stylist really has the advantage in that she's not working with her OWN hair.

She's standing, and can get a the hair at the back of your head. You may get sore arms when trying to do this.

She has 360 degrees of access to your head, and can pull it taut in any direction she pleases.

She's also had professional training and experience, and knows how long to apply the focused heat required for this kind of maneuver. You may accidentally burn your hair if it's aimed at a particular section for too long.

I recommend using a flat iron. To get the volume, pull the iron upwards when straightening the sections of hair at your crown.

Be sure your hair is COMPLETELY dry before flat ironing; this will prevent it from frizzing prematurely, and produces greater shine. Work a light shine product through your hair when finished to seal cuticles.

She probably used a roundbrush, which adds volume...it is hard to get used to, but if you practice, you can get really good at it, and the result is fabulous!!

I have natural curly hair. And extreamly frizzy!

First i wash my hair and rinse with cool water. I put in some mousse and some Paul Mitchell Super Skinny. I use a round brush and dry my hair completely. I flat iron it and then run the dryer on the coolest setting.

Good luck

You should use Solano blow dryer. It is very powerful and gets your hair straighter than a straightener.
