Which hair straighteners are good?

I have wavy hair - and normally I leave my hair to have this layered messy bed hair look (not as bad as it sounds in fact most people like it and I do to).... but in September I'll be starting work... so I was wondering if anyone knew of any straigteners that are reasonably priced and that work well and do not damage hair. I am a minimalist... and I don't really use product or even a blow dryer... but when I have had my hair straigtened I have liked the look (when it was straigtened it was done with my friends professional straigtener). Price range I'm looking for would be $30 to $60... because it's not something I'm going to do everyday. Thanks in advance! :)

Ok,i bought a Conair "Satin Straight" it's black and yellow it works amazingly(25$)!!! But if you are willing to go higher then that i would say a Chi or a Ghd.

ceramic flat irons - I don't know where you are from but I just use Revlon's ceramic one. It's like 30.00, heats up fast, and works even faster I got it at Wal-Mart ....I don't like taking to much time on my hair like you. It's easy on my hair too.

I like the Remington Wet to Straight. It has ceramic plates but it is not as pricey as the really expensive irons. It is made to use on either wet or dry hair which is great if you don't have time to blow dry and straighten. I use it almost everyday and my hair is pretty healthy.

3 years ago i found some fudge ones brand new on ebay for 60 quid. never looked back! they are perfect - and a good brand! ps - dont forget to buy a heat protection mat!!! variable temperature, used ALL the time, no probs!

Chi - no doubt, I've never used curling irons and such because my hair is already straight as a board and i never believed in any of that cosmotology crap but I've seen Chi's work wonders on so many different types of hair it's unbelievable! I would skip all the other shite and spend your money on a good chi, you'll thank yourself for it.

GHD are the best, but they're a bit pricey. I use Remington Wet 2 Straight straighteners, which are designed to work on damp hair, and they work really well on my thick and very curly hair. I tie my hair back until it's only slightly damp, then use the straighteners, rather than use them on wetter hair. There's less steam, and it seems to give a much better finish than using them on dry hair.

I don't know any good straightners for that price...i have GHD's and they rock!!They are expensive but if you don't use them all the time and look after them, then they will last.Sorry to tell you but...ALL straightners damage your hair.Even if you use a heat defence on it!You are putting hot appliances on to your hair and it will get damaged as a result.If i were you, i curl my hair occasinally using rollers or by plaiting,or buy some pretty hair things instead or turning to the straightners.They are bad for you!!!Good luck with what you decided though!X

I love ghds but they are a bit on the pricely side but well worth it, also I have heard that Chi is a good make too, I have mid length naturally wavy hair and when my hairdresser uses the ghds wow what a difference.
