I think it worse to straighten it, at least that's how it is with my hair, I have very thick hair to.

str8ning is much more dangerous, when u blow dry ur hair always have it 3 inches away from the brush and at a medium heat.
straightners are much more dangerous as they get hotter, and have more contact with ur hair. they burn ur hair to make ur hair straight.
i hope tht actually makes sense.
my hair is thick and i now i have damaged it by using straighners so i am leaving it for a while.

straightener because i like is putting direct heat to your hair. so its like burning it to stay straight.

hair straighteners are super tuff on your hair. any time u use a hair straightener you really want to make sure u have some time of product to keep the moister in ur hair...if u dont , split ends happen.....and when are those ever sexcii?
blow drying your hair is the same but not as bad just make sure you have some type of product.

actually both are pretty good at damaging but you can work around it. First use a good conditioner and if you decide to do either one weekly hot oil your hair so you don't dry out your ends. blow dry lightly without harshly pulling your hair then gently small parts straighten. good luck

the flat iron does more damage
because
its direct heat.. the blow drier is hot air and wont damage unless u put it comes in contact with your hair

they both damage the hair, but i would guess that a flat iron is probably much worse. i have seen my sister burn her hair with it before, and the room actually smelled like burned hair. at least with a blow dryer, you hold it farther away from your head and its not in direct contact with the hair like a flat iron.

It really DOES come down to how much time you spend on each and what kind of tool it is. Some have a type of heat defense. In the meantime, it's most likely the straightener will be worse b/c of DIRECT contact with your hair. When blow drying, reduce the damage by choosing a cooler setting and keeping the hair dryer atleast 3 inches away from hair. Avoid over drying, especially at roots. Towel dry WELL before you start blow drying. Also, make sure you aren't washing your hair everyday. If you are, that's unnecessary excess damage.
Merry Christmas and Good Luck! :)

use Aussie or Herbal Essentials to prevent damaging from those two things. straighteners are not nearly as damaging as blowdryers, because blowdryers are heated air and also dry out skin and harm scalp. straightners dont harm you if you use protection. if you live in the united states visit Sally's and ask them for straighting protection for your hair.

both because they both deal with intensive heat. gettin and ionic blowdryer or ceramic straighter can cut down the damage.
Is it more damaging to hair if you blow dry it or use a straightener?
well it depends on how much you use it---
if you use it alot it could be drying out your hair
if you dont use it a lot it should be ok
its not like your hair will get cancer or something it just dries it out
