Can lice survive hair straighteners?

I straighten my hair every day with a extremely hot hair iron.

I'm just curious because my heads itchy, I'm thinking that is might just be dry scalp from the heat because last time there was no lice. but that was quite along time ago. anyway :

Yes lice can survive hair straighteners. I had lice a year ago and I always straighten my hair. And I actually had it so bad that I had to use the whole lice treatment 3 seperate times in a month because they kept coming back.

It wont hurt to just go and get a lice treatment thing from the drug store. Also try putting extra conditioner in your hair and maybe like something to soften you scalp after you straighten your hair [[I use biosilk]]

haha, yes. lice can survive hair straighteners. They don't just live on the hair, they're on your scalp, and I don't think you apply the iron to your scalp, do you?

Yes, you're just overdoing it with the straightening. Try getting some really nice thick conditioner and working it right into the scalp once or twice a week. normally you just use it on the ends so your hair won't get greasy, but you need a little help with your scalp obviously. How often do you wash your hair? If you have a sensitive scalp, this might be irritating it if you wash it every day. Everyone has their preference, and I shower every day, but sometimes it helps to skip a day, or at least not wash your hair.

If it gets really bad, lay off on the straightening for a while. All that pulling on your hair is driving your papulie mad!

If your head is itchy, it probably is a bit irritated from the heat of your strait iron, like you thought. That happened to me... I thought i had it and i was all like, WOAH! but, nothing was there. Just in case, go check again as a precaution. As for the original question... I think they can survive hair straiteners, because they live in your scalp, and you don't touch your scalp with your straightener.. :P idk.. I think if they can survive hot water showers without drowning or dying from being smothered in shampoo, they can survive the close heat from your hair straightener.
