it won't damage any more than colour or bleach if you follow the directions properly. a good idea is to do a deep conditioner treatment twice a week for a couple weeks before any serious chemical process. i don't have any experience with at home products though so i can't recommend a particular brand

the Chi system is the hottest new thing out there. It's supposed to be amazing. I believe it's available at Jc Penny Salon's. You can google it and find other locations I'm sure.

Try this product called EasyStraight. It's $29.99 I think. You can buy it at drugstores like Duane Reade, Walgreens, etc. Here's their website: www.easystraight.com

Chi (done professionally) is the best hair straightening method and it lasts the longest But it is VERY expensive. Some people say it works best on caucasian hair.

If you want to straighten your hair use a relaxer (not perm). I like Optimum or Olive Oil (at the most they cost $10). Part hair into four section %26amp; apply the relaxer to each section, starting with the middle (area w/ most new growth). Once all hair in covered use your fingers or the back of a comb %26amp; smooth down the hair. All this should take about 15min. Once finish rinse hair with warm water %26amp; then wash with a neurtalizing shampoo (if you buy a relaxer kit, the shampoo is included). Wash hair about 3 times until all the relaxer is out. Add a conditioner, rinse it out %26amp; then style hair as usual. You have to wait 2 weeks before you add color.

Good Luck!
