Dry, Brittle Hair *HELP!*?

Im 15 yrs old %26amp; male

like my hair fairly long (just above shoulder length atm) %26amp; have always done so

Never had any problems with my hair b4, yet recently its become extremely dry and brittle. It used to be so smooth but now I can't seem to keep it under control without strands flicking up all over the place.

I recently purchased a hair straightener, used it once a day 4 a few weeks in the mornings 4 school, but since the holidays began I havent used it @ all. I suspect this may be what has caused the split ends although Ive known other people to use them with no trouble

Ive always been very wary of what I put on my hair as I suffer excezma and have always used Simple soaps and shampoos for my scalp

hoping 2 get a haircut soon, but I want my hair to be in the best condition possible b4 this. I am not intending to cut my hair shavershort, as I am keeping the long fringe, I know these problems will not disapear as soon as I have it cut so wat solutions can any1 offer?

Dry, Brittle Hair *HELP!*?

Hello,

Check the type of hair straightener you are using. If it's a cheaper one, please reconsider buying a new, better one. They're more expensive, but realllllly worth it. Your hair will look and feel better, and not damage as easily. The GHD straightener. Check it out here: http://www.ghdhair.com/

You'll also want to look into a deep conditioner to use once or twice a week. If you've never used conditioner AT ALL, there are gentle or "sensitive scalp" conditioners in stores that should not interfere with your eczema. If you dont use conditioner, this may also be why your hair is damaged.

When you straighten or blow dry your hair, you need to prepare it by spraying or rubbing in some heat-protectant spray or creme, otherwise you're setting yourself up for damaged, brittle hair. You said you want your hair to be in the best condition for the salon, but I recommend you go in as soon as possible before your split ends get worse. Just get a trim and get it styled how you want it. This way, you can ask the stylist about what products to use, and he/she will use some product on you when they style your hair. The sooner you go to get trimmed, the less split ends you'll need to cut off, which means you'll get to keep your hair long.

Hope this helps!

get them and use everytime you wash your hair

Dry, Brittle Hair *HELP!*?

well, straightening it without a heat protection spray can damage your hair, also, do you use any kind of conditioner?

buy some deep conditioner or a hair mask and let it sit in your damp hair for a half hour-hour 2 or 3 days a week. this will help rehydrate it

also, do you dry your hair with a hairdryer? that can also fry your hair...try letting it air dry, or atleast dry about 90% of the way and then use a hairdryer.

good luck!

Dry, Brittle Hair *HELP!*?

well if you use a mosturizing shampoo i think it will work or hydrition conditioner i had that problem and thats how i fixed it i hope it works! good luck!

Dry, Brittle Hair *HELP!*?

Using a flat iron once a day is too often. You are adding too much heat to your hair, and your hair can not stand the heat. Everyone's hair type is different, so just because it worked for one person does not mean that it will work for you. NO ONE should put heat in their hair everyday, it will damage your hair and give you split ends. Go to your local drugstore and pick up Sunsilk (Formerly Thermasilk), this is for all hair types, regardless your ethnicity. Grab the shampoo and the conditioner. After shampooing your hair, put in the conditioner and sit under the hair dryer or blow dry for about 10 minutes. This will deep condition your hair and make it smooth and silky without making it look dull and flat. Deep condition your hair at least once a week, even once it is back to life, and you will have fabulous hair!

Dry, Brittle Hair *HELP!*?

i'm not sure if this works for male hair but i wouldn't use pantene and herbal essences, because they don't reall y treat dry and frizzy hair, your hair feels good the next day after you use it, but that's only indoors. once you go outside when it's hot and where there is a lot of moisture in the air your hair becomes a huge mess....trust me i experienced this.

p.s i did hear good things about sunsilk and garnier =)

Dry, Brittle Hair *HELP!*?

I had same problem, My hair was pretty long (a lil past half back) and I would straighten it every day for school. noticed my hair was dry and brittle (at the end of the school yr) and had alot of split ends went the salon and got 5INCHES HACKED!

why soo much? I asked, stylist said my hair was badly damged bc of all the heating

she recomended I use Pantene Shampoo and conditioner and not use the striaghtner more than once a week and use a hairspray to protect my hair from the heating. I decided I was gonna give my hair a rest and wait until school started so i just keep my hair natural. My advice for you is not to wait to long b4 you go to a hairstylist you might consider using pantene shampoo and conditioner works really well. If your gonna continue to staighten your hair limit yourself to once a week with somthing protecting your hair.

Well good luck with your hair hun

hope I helped a little.

What product should I use for my crazy hair?

I have naturally very... poofy hair. Sometimes it can be wavey and sometimes it's frizzy and sometimes it's just plain poofy. I could use a hair straightener... but I hate wasting time in the morning in the bathroom and I just hate straightening my hair over-all. Any hair products or suggestions I could use?

What product should I use for my crazy hair?

Go to your nearest beauty supply and discuss the options with a trained professional. Sally Beauty Supply is in many towns and has a great selection at reasonable prices.

What product should I use for my crazy hair?

I would try the shampoo and conditioner from Sunsilk designed for poofy hair, and use a styling creme before you blow dry your hair. I agree that straightening gets to be boring and quite time consuming if you have to do it all the time, plus it can be damaging. Or, if you like it wavy, try a texturizing product to enhance your curls that you scrunch into your hair as you blow dry or air dry.

What product should I use for my crazy hair?

you could use Herbal Essences "None of Your Frizzness" or "Dangerously Straight". [both are shampoos]

or this:

those will help, but if it's not the way you like it, sorry, hun, you might have to straighten your hair. ;]

i have the same hair, so yeah.

What product should I use for my crazy hair?

Try this product and style.

Enhance curly hair??

ALright, i know that there are probably a bunch of questions out there REALLY similar to this question, but im gonna ask it with SPECIFICS: PLEASE PAY ATTENTION!

ALright, i guess that you could say that i have wavy/curly hair. By using Pantene Pro-V Shampoo and Conditioner, along with some hair gel, a hair dryer, and Leave-in Conditioner, am i able to enhance the natural curl of my hair?

Also, i do not have anti-frizz and my mother will not let me... so please leave out any of those solutions.

also...please give me any sites that could help me in styling my hair using these supplies (also i have no hair straightener and, again, am not allowed to buy one)

THANKS

Enhance curly hair??

To enhance the curl in your hair try scrunching it up with hair gel as soon as you get out of the shower and it is still wet. Don't towel dry it or blow dry it. Just keep scrunching it and let it air dry. You can put in the leave in conditioner before you put in the gel. Make sure you spread the gel evenly on your fingers so it will be spread more evenly in your hair. I do my hair this way and it turns out great. If you don't dry it any before you put in the gel it will prevent frizz. Just start styling it while it is still very wet. Also if you don't use a hair dryer you won't have as much frizz. Just put in enough hair gel to make your hair curly, but not too much so it doesn't get stiff. It will make curls look great. You can try this and see if it works for you. It works best for me when I want my hair to be curly.

Enhance curly hair??

Don't use hair dryer, it will make your hair even frizzer. Use gel and crunch your hair upwards and that will definetly enhance your curls. also, for shampoo and conditioner, use matrix curls. it's a green bottle. it works well. GOOD LUCK!

Enhance curly hair??

Trim the ends and let it dry naturally

Enhance curly hair??

sorry to say this but...

why can't you have a straightner or anti-frizz cream? JUST WONDERING

I need something to fix my hair. It's so damaged!?

Does anyone know any shampoo or conditioner, or something that will help fix damaged hair? I use a hair straightener and hair dryer almost every day. I've tried certain shampoos that are supposed to help, but nothing has really worked yet. If anyone knows something that REALLY works, let me know please! thank you :)

I need something to fix my hair. It's so damaged!?

Get Inergy shampoo and Humectin conditioner from Phyto Organics. It's available and most salons. Try a leave-in to, my favorite is Instacure from Matrix Essentials that every salon has. This will make your hair feel smooth, and like there's no damage at all because it closes that damaged hair so it's no so pourous.

PS: Don't buy anything from a drugstore because they are loaded with alcohol which will continue to dry out your hair. Plus, limit your use on hairspray, or get an organic one such as the one Phyto Organics offers.

I need something to fix my hair. It's so damaged!?

Damaged hair can't be fixed.

There is a product sold at Sally's Beauty Supply called 'Inner Cellular' it will help your hair feel better.

Nothing can reverse damage no matter WHAT the commercials say.

I need something to fix my hair. It's so damaged!?

well, i got the sunsilk moisturizing conditioner and its really great. you just need to get one thats extra thick so it really sticks to your hair. also make sure to get it trimmed every few months. that will help a lot!

I need something to fix my hair. It's so damaged!?

well, try last call shampoo and conditioner. its made by beyond zone. then use the leave in conditioner. you can get it at sally beauty supply. i love the stuff

and also if you r hair is really damaged, make your to use a deep conditioner at least once a week, pantene makes a good one.

ps

on your days off, dont straighten or blow dry your hair, you know its bad for you hair hun

:)

I need something to fix my hair. It's so damaged!?

I would suggest using a leave in treatment, something you can leave in overnight to help repair. 3-5 minutes leave in treatments are good, but for more damaged hair, an overnight repair is suggested. So keep buying the shampoo/conditioner meant for damaged hair, but your a leave in conditioner spray right before you blow dry THEN use a heat protector spray right before you flat iron. This will keep your hair from getting more damaged.

I need something to fix my hair. It's so damaged!?

Stop doing everything with heat and start washing your hair with garnier fructis! Its mostly all natural. let hair air dry and brush it gently and get a healthy trim. If that fails go to a salon consistantly and let them nurse your hair back to normal. Good Luck! I know what you're going through! lol

I need something to fix my hair. It's so damaged!?

you should get a trim and try biosilk

Also try Sunsilk Shampoo and Conditioner for dry hair. It should be pink. They also have another product for after you shower, try using all of them, and it will probably help.

Curyly hair and straightening it often. how to maintain shine. or is there a product that makes it l

my hair use to be really frizzy and curly but after i started straightening it often i lost some of my curl... i prefer it straight thought so it doesnt matter much because it makes it easier to straighten... the question is...

what shampoo/product should i use to maintain the shine in my hair even though i flat iron it often... and still have it look REALLY straight..

and is there a way i can make my hair straight.. for longer periods... like a product that makes it last longer even after showering??

oh also what is the best type of hair straightener... i have remington 30 level heat wet to straight version (although most of the time i let my hair dry first and then i straighten it..)

so any help/advice?

Curyly hair and straightening it often. how to maintain shine. or is there a product that makes it last longer

there are a few products you need to get and it will make a huge difference in your hair. First for shampoo and conditioner you should get paul mitchell sleek look then you would want to get the sleek look shine serumthat it going to keep your shine and keep your hair from getting frizzy. You could also try using Bed heads After party that is a product that you can use as a second day styler. So if you want to keep your hair straight without washing it you would use that. the longer you can go without washing your hair the better your hair needs the oils in it to stay healthy.Especially if you flat iron a lot.

Curyly hair and straightening it often. how to maintain shine. or is there a product that makes it last longer

A friend of mine has the same problem, she uses Biosilk serum, it gives her shine and keeps it straight. Another one is Sebestian has good products as well. You may have to keep trying, plus I've been told you should change your hair product every other month to avoid build up and not have it work as properly. Keep trying you will find something.

Oh and that is a great straightener

Curyly hair and straightening it often. how to maintain shine. or is there a product that makes it last longer

after washing your hair, put straightening mousse or gel in your hair %26amp; then blow-dry it! works for me.

Curyly hair and straightening it often. how to maintain shine. or is there a product that makes it last longer

Curyly hair and straightening it often. how to maintain shine. or is there a product that makes it last longer

Ok I have the same kind of hair. My hair was really curly until I started straightening it alot. I use every product made by Fructis. They make products especially for curly hair. Ok I use the shampoo and conditioner in the shower (even if I'm going to do it straight I still use the products for curly hair). When I get out I apply the leave-in conditioner. Then I apply this hair straightening spray called Beyond the Zone (from Sally's Beauty Supply) and spray it throughout my hair. Then I let my hair dry just a little and then I use my CHI iron and my hair comes out soft and shiny. Seriously, my hair is very healthy and I straighten my hair pretty much every day. Hope this helps.

Curyly hair and straightening it often. how to maintain shine. or is there a product that makes it last longer

i had the exact same thing happen to my hair. i never wear it curly anymore and it stays straight for 2-3 days between washing. that's one thing, i dont wash my hair every time I take a shower(it doesn't get greasy or anything). also NEVER straighten your hair from wet even though the straightener says its okay. it will give you lots of split ends in the long run. Also for making your hair stay straight I reccomend CHI silk infusion. you put some on before and some after straightening. it makes it look like you have naturally straight hair and gives it the shine that most people who straighten their hair find it hard to achieve. Honestly people are really surprised when they find out I have naturally curly hair so I hope you try this! good luck :)

Dry and damaged hair....need help?

i am a guy...i was born with naturally straight hair..now my hair is wavy and it has lots of split-ends....i wanna know if using a hair straightener(cream)(wella) would make my hair fall...and how long would it last?? i plan to straighten my hair then use a deep repair shampoo, conditioner and leave-on..will this prolong my "straight" hair?? please tell me wheter this is a wise decision or not...and also will straightening my damage hair make it fall out??

Dry and damaged hair....need help?

I think you should use santan in your hair, wrap it up for up to 30 min before washing it out. Then use a little olive oil in your hair before combing it out. maybe you dry your hair too often. sometimes you can use white hibiscus flower (squeeze it out until the juice comes out) on your hair for moisturizer. what do you think?

Dry and damaged hair....need help?

When I was in cosmetology school we would straighten hair by using a perm solution mixed with deep conditioner. Use a comb and comb the solution through, leave on recommended amount of time and rinse. Using the deep repair shampoo and conditioner is a good idea but I would also get a good hair cut afterwards. Depending on how course your hair is you may have to do this a couple of times. This should last quite a while but remember that your hair will grow and more than likely will grow in curly and you will have to repeat the process.

You know you might want to consider leaving it curly and getting a flattering cut. Some of the new stars have curly hair and it actually looks kind of nice.

Dry and damaged hair....need help?

Straightening your hair will definitely make it worse, whether it will fall out or not I don't know.

Having been born with naturally curly, thick, dry hair, I searched for years trying to find the best deep conditioning treatment.

This is the best. Wash your hair with your conditioner not your shampoo. Your hair will still get clean but will do so without stripping it of it's natural oils.

I really hope you try this. It will save you a heap of money and make your hair so much better.

Dry and damaged hair....need help?

don't! just get a haircut! and your split ends problem will end! and in your dry hair problem just use a conditioner daily rather than shampoo, put the conditioner not on your scalp because it will cause you dandruff just put it in the damaged area and if that doesnt work tell me! and use shampoo only once or twice a week! i love my hair so much i've done everything to maintain it!
